Astroworld

This past summer, Java and I got to visit Six Flags Astroworld and ride some incredibly unique and wonderful rides. Six Flags announced that the land will be sold. *sigh*
Supposedly many of the rides will be relocated to other Six Flags parks. I worry about the Dentzel carousel (1895 IIRC ... though it was supposedly refurbished by PTC in the 1920s and when it got moved to Houston had some Muller horses added). I really worry about the Schwartzkopf coasters (Viper and Greezed Lightning). The third Schwartzkopf they had was dismantled and shipped away before we got there, supposedly to the Six Flags in IL but has not been reassembled. They got a bunch of rides from Opryland and those have not been reassembled either.
They have the only pipeline coaster in the US.
They have a nice Cyclone clone that is FUN to ride.
The Mayan Mindbender has already had one park sold out from under it.
One of the rides premiered at the Knoxville Worlds Fair.
I wish I had enough $$ to buy a lot of the rides and move them somewhere else and make my own theme park. While I may not like all of the rides there, I would probably keep most of them (and try to get that last Schwartzkopf back). Just because something is the latest does NOT make it the greatest (exhibit A, Windows98).
The company is in serious financial trouble. I wonder how many nice parks are going to get the Ax. I also wonder if the CCI (Custom Coasters International) coaster that was announced this summer for Astroworld will be built, and if so, where.
They also had some very unique rides in New Orleans, it remains to be seen how many (if any) of those survive) and that was a young park ... maybe 5 years old.
