Lesson Geeking

Well, it has been way to long since I have updated, so, here goes.
I ended up canceling my lesson on 9/1 due to my ankle still being rather annoyed with existence and the fact I was fighting a sinus flare-up and riding when dizzy is NOT a good idea.
My lesson on 9/8 was in my saddle (oh joy, oh rapture) with yet another set of pads being tried. According to Peter the saddle is a little too small for me (which sounds weird because at least in mine, I am not hitting fore and aft every stride like the other one) and really doesn't fit her quite right. *sigh* I like my saddle but I can agree that if my legs are supposed to be that far back, I don't do it well in my saddle. That said, I don't know if I will/can do it well in ANY saddle without a lot of work. When my legs were in the right position (front to back) and on the horse, all my weight on the right was on the outside branch of my right foot thus putting stress on the weakest portion of my leg and it HURT (and is still slightly owie today).
That said, Echo was a good girl and left Pooh in the field with minimal complaint. She was very good about being tacked up (except for the blowfish thing ... I wish I could figure out how to untrain that particular trick ... if I ever raise a foal again, being girthed is going to be such a regular and painless part if his/her life s/he will not learn to puff up). Anyway, we did some lunging and we are getting better at it (I still need to clamp down on her faster when she wants to scurry at the beginning). Then up I went. Grace .02, effectiveness 9.7. *sigh*
We did a lot of trot with some changes of direction and I am proud to say that I managed to mostly keep her going at the same rhythm all the way around and when she wanted to change, I could usually get her to change back. My balance is still off but it is improving. I was able to use my seat much better for control (including slowing her down). I am still having troubles with getting my legs on the horse and even (especially the getting them on the horse, I was way too well trained by Dancer to NOT do that and I need to get over it).
We improve but it is slow. This diary is hopefully a way for me to see the improvement.
