Whee and Hee

So on Monday 8/20
sparowe and I kidnapped Sir Henry Clifford for a day of coasters at Six Flags America. The short version is that Sir Henry is Very Silly and great fun at a park. We had a blast and the weather was nice to us as well.
The day started with me getting up and taking care of a few minor things. One thing I did was unwrap the giftie I had gotten for Sparowe at Breyerfest a few weeks ago. They had some 'left-over' bucking bulls for a good price and I figured she would appreciate it. Unfortunately, when I pulled off the bubble wrap (since the price tag was on it), I found that one of the horns was broken off. However, it looks like a reasonably easy fix and I went ahead and took it with me. Up to her place I went, passed off the bull, enjoyed the squeeing, and we headed to pick up Sir Henry. Lots of discussion of maps and traffic later we picked up a guy on the side of the road (Sir Henry was walking out to meet us when we got there) and off to the park we went.
Stupid me forgot to warn Sir Henry that a fully armored knight (and thus someone with lots of interesting toys) might have trouble getting into a park that has rules about weapons and metal detectors. A few trips to the car later to off-load stuff and we were all three inside. As it worked out, we were walking up towards the theatre just as they finished the opening Whoop-De-Do. Being able to park in the priority lot w/out paying extra was nice.
We discussed where to go and ended up at Wild One for the first ride of the day. Front 2 seats with me and Sir Henry then Sparowe, lots of very silly talking going up the lift hill. I think my favorite observation was that "what is that one, it looks like a kiddie ride" pointing off towards Joker's Jinx. The line of "The word of the Day is whee and hee, like this ... WHeeeee HEEEEeeeee! It was fun so we did the quick walk around and scored the last 2 seats as a good start to the day. No lines at all at 10:30 on a Monday when it is rainy looking. Then off to Two-Face we went. We weren't able to score a walk-on with us facing each other (almost but not quite) so I was at one end and they were in the middle. Sir Henry is quite loud enough to be heard anyway. GRIN
Then we headed to Batwing since it is fairly unique. As Sir Henry pointed out, fortunately it was a bit overcast because the lift hill in full sun is a bit much. I believe he rated the ride as "interesting and almost relaxing". Snort, unfortunately because of its location we didn't make it back there and it is disorienting enough we didn't want to do back-to-back on it.
Next stop was Superman which ended up being Sir Henry's favorite ride. Front 2 seats (2 train wait IIRC and they were two training the ride), then last 2 seats. I was very amused to see Sir Henry in the classic Superman pose with one fist up in the air and the other down by his shoulder. Swapping hands as we hit turns of course. The "Whoa!" as we got whipped over the lift hill on the 2nd ride was also amusing.
Then we got dizzy on Penguin's Blizzard River (and Sir Henry got a mouthfull of water). Having the bottom of the boat undulating under one's feet as you go up the lift is an interesting sensation all around. So we then wandered to the 'kiddie ride' that Sir Henry had seen earlier ... Joker's Jinx is NOT a kiddie ride. The LIM is pretty intense (he has ridden it's older brother at KI). When the brakes came off, Sparowe and I glanced at each other and started giggling (when she first rode it I told her what to listen for since they only launch after the brakes are off). Neither of us thought to warn Sir Henry. Ooops. The next stop was the power hammer (Thor's Hammer) game where Sir Henry won a bright pink bear (Jeffrey) for a friend's child.
A quick break for lunch (grump, the restaurants that I can use my coupons for were closed) and off to Roar (Sparowe's favorite ride). We took the back seats (someone was queued up for the first row) and I sat sort of sideways so I could watch Sir Henry's face as we hit the Bank of Doom (65 degrees maybe?). He did get a bit of an eye pop going but didn't comment on it. He was having fun though. Then we headed to the front (which had no line) and she was rocking and rolling a bit.
I refused to ride Rodeo (I know my limits), the other two decided that Rodeo wasn't on their list of things to do either. It was too cold for the Shipwreck Falls or the Canyon (which was running but was closed) so we headed to Mind Eraser. It was down for problems (they had to pull the 2nd train off the circuit) so Sir Henry and I hit the bumper cars (with Sparowe supervising from a safe distance). Just as we got in the cars, they re-opened Mind Eraser (which shucky-darn we were right next door to) so off to ride that we went. I admit that I do NOT like this ride. I'll give it a couple of tries a year but it and I just don't seem to fit together.
We wandered back to Superman and did that again (front seat). Then it was time to play some games. Sir Henry got VERY close to winning at the star shooter game. After a few rounds of that, we headed to Wild One again and got 2 rides in the back seat w/out leaving the train (did I mention that the weather kept the lines really down?). We did the Tower of Doom and discussed while we went up at what points we wondered why we did this. Snicker. We also did the Falling Star which was more fun than I expected (some Whee Hee's from the seat next to me) but a bit rough since I was sliding back and forth on my seat (as the only single rider). Back to more shooting and another ride on the Wild One (front) and a pitching game where Sir Henry won a snack (almost got a big prize for getting 2 out of 3 plates with three balls). It was fun watching him teach the game person how to juggle.
Then we decided to call it a day and headed out towards dinner. It started to rain as we drove. Such fabulous timing! Tasty dinner and fascinating conversation followed with a quick shopping stop then off to drop Sir Henry at his place for the run and then take Sparowe home.
We must do it next year (and drag Javasaurus with us). I really enjoyed the small group option and the chance to get to know Sir Henry a bit better. It was a good day with a good friend and the friend of the friend.
