Friday
Saw Sin City. Lots of blood. Lots of disturbing ideas. Some interesting style choices. Lots of famous actors. Don't need to see it again. Was very stiff for most of the day. Found some fascinating (bloody) blisters on the back of my knee where the half-chaps rubbed the seam from my jeans (along the tendons). ouch

Saturday
Funeral for a friend's mother. Nice ceremony, short yet appropriate for her. I was a little offended by the employee of the cemetary smoking while striking the tent, covering the vault, and putting the dirt on. I was also slightly bothered by the casual dumping of the 'dig here' flag into the hole.

Went to Six Flags later in the day. Wild One was having issues with the 2nd car of the blue train but was running fairly well. Mind Eraser is mostly painted and running a bit better. Roar needs some help. Superman was closed (as was Jinx, Two Face, and Typhoon Seacoaster). Did some shopping with Java and had Ledo's Pizza for dinner.

Sunday
WentBarn. I had an appointment with a saddle fitter to work with my saddle to fit Echo better. The good news is that my saddle (in spite of some serious abuse and neglect in its history ... it was green with mold when I got it) is in fairly good shape. The front needed some minor re-stuffing to fit her better. The back needs to be raised but with her gaining muscle that may not be a problem for long ... and the back section is fairly full of stuffing (possibly too full ... it is a little hard). The tree is in good shape (yea!) as are the billets (yea!). I may send it to be fully restuffed (with some minor stitching work as well) when I go on vacation.

Then I lunged Echo who was getting rather tired of the pull her out of the stall, put her back in, pull her out again. She was pretty good (though she didn't settle as well as I would have liked). She was a little tense when the other horse was working in the ring (rider) and cantering past her but she got over it. I need to be better at separating Peter's voice from other voices (the other person was getting a lesson from someone else so there were lots of competing conversations). She is getting really muscled up and Peter says that he will probably ride her at some point this week and that 'real soon now' he will put me up for just walking around a bit.

Then I went shopping. One of the tack stores not too far from the barn was having a sale. My helmet is over 10 years old so I am not as trusting of it. So, I bought a new one (not on sale unfortunately). I also ordered a pair of riding pants (to avoid a repeat of the aforementioned blisters), a pair of half-chaps (if they can get them), and bought a pad for Echo. This particular saddle pad has pockets that you can put small shims in to lift the saddle slightly as needed. The saddle fitter recommended cutting the leading edge of them slightly if I use more than one to help feather the edges and distribute the pressure more evenly.

Then back home and shower (I smelled very barn-like) and off to see Miss Congeniality 2. Not high art but overall fairly fun. The 'dresser' was fabulous. I also liked Fuller's character. Some nice references that will go over some people's heads but I was amused.
