Another Festival Year has started. We had Gorgeous weather for opening weekend (and considering how nasty the weather was last week we are VERY grateful). It was being said that Bill and Chuck were talking to the powers that be and requesting a good weekend. With it being Children's Weekend (children under 15 are free); we won't get a 'full' gate count but it was a busy festival. No feelings of wandering around all by ourselves.

I saw some shows, helped people find stages, shows, play areas, food, etc., and I danced. The dancing overall went well (there were some minor opening weekend issues) but it was a good solid show. The audience seemed appreciative and the people who danced with us enjoyed it (and of course the parents watching enjoyed it too).

I also was asked to deliver one of the admiration letters. Fun! The letter was to Nicholas Worthington, Constable and I found him right after Fair Maid of the West (lots of sword play in parts of that show) just as he and the sheriff were taking the deputy off to punish him for not having enough fun. A couple of visitors ran into them and were offering suggestions for punishment, then suggestions of how to make the deputy have fun. Since the good constable can't read [we are not a literate society at that time], he asked one of the visitors to read it to him. He then could carry the letter around for the rest of the day and talk about his unknown admirer.

One of the shows I saw was the 1-hour version of Taming of the Shrew and I liked the cuts. I was impressed with how they handled the fight scene (Asses are made to bear and so are you. Women are made to bear and so are you.) I won't put any spoilers in, but keep an eye on Mark Jaster and Jim Nieb. They are brilliant.

The court shows (Royal Feast and Court's Court) have a lot of drama and tension, though I would not recommend taking children to them (esp. the Court's Court). Chess game is fun (but I'm biased, I like sword-fighting and shows that [livejournal.com profile] javasaurus is in).

I'm tired, not too dehydrated, but I hurt. I really landed wrong on one ankle at the end of the sausage line and it is not a happy camper. Note to self, run dances a lot in off season, esp. the bounce on one foot dances to keep the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones as sturdy as possible...
