The day was warm and beautiful. I wasn't the most eager person on the planet to jump out of bed (I LIKE being able to sleep in a bit) but I as up when [livejournal.com profile] silmaril called to make sure we were still on. Yes, we were. So, Java and I headed out to pick her up, grab some food, and hit the road for closing weekend of the 2005 season of PKD.

See, we had these perks for being gold pass holders and could bring a friend for free. Awww shucks. GRIN So, we headed into a fairly busy but not packed park for some fun. The line for Scooby's Ghoster Coaster was fairly long as was the line for Haunted Mansion so we went to Volcano The Blast Coaster. I ended up riding it with Silmaril while Java got the car behind us. A gorgeous day for this with blue skies, fluffy clouds, great views. *sigh* Silmaril agreed with me that Tomb Raider FireFall (or whatever it is called) didn't look like that much fun (I've ridden it, I find it Not Fun). The line for Outer Limits the Flight of Fear (or Pain) was horrible looking so we skipped that. Java and I were interested in riding Shockwave so we went and got a fairly quick ride on that (maybe 5 trains) while Sil got some ice-cream. Shockwave was running well and riding in the back 'seat' does give a very different ride from the front, the whip of the first drop is, um, impressive. I think Yoinks! sums it up rather well.

Then it was time to head to the Rebel Yell which was running 2 trains. Unfortunately, the blue train had the front seat out of order and while I like front seat, waiting 10 cycles wasn't high on my list of things to do so we opted for 2nd seats (me and Java) and I encouraged Sil to do front seat of the second car (axle seats can be rough). She ended up getting on before we did and was patting the train with appreciation when she came back into the station. The Yell was running VERY smooth and pretty fast.

We got some more food and headed back to Scooby's Mansion because Sil hadn't done it and I haven't done it much. The line was better but was still bad. I think the ride kept going up and down because we were in line a LONG time. Then people started coming out and saying that the ride was broken and would be down for 1/2 - 1 hour. I voted to give it a few minutes (10 afte we were in the building) before bailing. It was up in 8 minutes. The screens you watch in line still had their Fear Fest stuff showing with bits from various movies and Sil and I were calling suggestions to some of the victims ("you have a baseball bat, USE IT" or "don't just stand their screaming, RUN!"). We did see the entire Thriller video (which I have never seen). Java wiped the floor with us on scores but we had fun on the ride.

It was getting late so we figured on hitting one more ride and Sil voted for Hypersonic so off we went. Unfortunately, that ride went down while we were in line but we ended up riding it. Java was paired with a woman who was having the excitement of her life and seemed not quite sure she would be OK but she apparently had fun. I admit that I do NOT like the wait while the rabbit is attached to the ride but WOW what a rush.

I then begged for another ride on the Yell (it was basically a walk on) and it was fast and smooth. Have a good winter baby and I will see you in the spring! Then dinner at Wendy's and off to drop Sil on campus.

Some interesting conversations, some nice laughing and teasing. New verbal games to play (hey, Sil, has anyone brought up the plethora of hymns that have the word story in them such as "I love to tell the story, of Jesus and his glory"?).

The weather was beautiful and the lines weren't too bad (aside from hold-ups when the rides had issues). *sigh* Another season is over and no more PKD until late March or early April.
